REPORT ON THE COMMISSIONING OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CENTRE AND
GARI PROCESSING FACTORY– FRIDAY 19TH JUNE 2009

On Friday, 19th June 2009, Hope for Future Generations (HFFG) and the French Embassy – Ghana jointly commissioned a Reproductive Health Care Centre and Food Processing Factory at Ekrawfo in the Mfantsiman district of the Central Region.

The project was sponsored by the Social Development Fund of the French Embassy. One hundred and sixty women drawn from nine rural communities in the Mfantsiman district are benefitting from this income generating activity. The group will also have regular access to reproductive health services.

Present at the commissioning were the Co-ordinator of the Social Development Fund of the French Embassy, the Counselor for Co-operation and Cultural affairs of the French Embassy, the Member of Parliament for Mfantsiman East, the District Director of Health, the Municipal Chief Executive, assembly members, chiefs, the beneficiaries and staff and management of Hope for Future Generations .

The Counselor congratulates HFFG for successfully and effectively managing the project to the satisfaction of the embassy.
In his inaugural speech the representative of the French embassy said the donation became necessary when it was realized that women in Ekrawfo and its surrounding communities have no reliable source of income.

This, they believed, had contributed to high rate of child labor episodes in the area. They expressed the hope that the project would be taken good care of to achieve their intended purposes.

The executive director of HFFG was particularly thankful to the embassy, the Mfantsiman district assembly, the chief of the area and the women for their profound commitment towards the projects. She thanked the French Embassy for their financial support.

The MP for the area, honorable Kuntu Blankson pledged his support to help the projects benefit the people and gave the assurance that his outfit and the assembly would work jointly to help extend the project to other near by communities.
