HFFG is a co-convenor for the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 Platform in Ghana. The Platform forms part of the 17 Platforms on SDGs in Ghana. The organisation is convening the SDG5 platform together with Care International Ghana.
We are creating a supportive environment to empower women in and around artisanal and small-scale gold mining communities in Ghana to improve their opportunities to engage in economic activity, decision making and sexual reproductive health and rights.
According to the 2014 GDHS the country is characterised by a young population. Adolescents and young adults constitute 29.3% of Ghana’s population. This population includes Young Persons with Disabilities who are faced with particular challenges related to their SRHR, substance use, various forms of violence, inequalities, risks and vulnerabilities. Programmes such as HopePal and GUSO ensures inclusiveness of this population.
